FROM THE WIRES..
As one of the first to plant Cabernet Sauvignon in the Lodi Appellation, LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards continues producing high-quality, site-specific Cabernet Sauvignon.
Acampo, CA – June 22, 2023 – LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards, dedicated, family owned business crafting vineyard-driven wines, is leading the charge in showcasing Cabernet Sauvignon from site specific appellations in the Lodi region. With their unwavering commitment to their family legacy, a sustainable future, and crafting quality, single vineyard wines, LangeTwins is offering approachable expressions of one of America’s most popular varieties and California’s king grape, Cabernet Sauvignon.
As Cabernet Sauvignon prices in Napa Valley continue to rise, Lodi offers an economical alternative to both trade and consumers to purchase quality Cabernet Sauvignon. In fact, according to SipSource analysts Danny Brager and Dale Stratton, Cabernet Sauvignon within the $15-$25 price bracket accounts for over 10% of the wine category volume share and is seeing continual, consistent growth, which is also consistent with data from IRI (Information Resources, Inc.), which shows Cabernet Sauvignon’s overall volume growth from the past year.
Additionally, according to a recent survey from Drizly, “31% of respondents plan to reach for red wine as their go-to summer drink — an 8 percentage point increase from 2022. More survey takers crowned red wine (31%) their top summer sip, ranking it above the typical white wine (28%) and rosé (17%), and potentially signaling a shift in how consumers view red wine.” With red wine on the rise as a summer drink of choice, LangeTwins offers an array of red varietals from their portfolio, most notably their Thirty Eight Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, which can be enjoyed year-round.
While Napa Valley has long been celebrated for its exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon, LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards is putting the spotlight on the lesser-known micro appellations in Lodi, including Jahant, Clements Hills, and Mokelumne River, that demonstrate tremendous potential for this noble grape variety. Situated in Acampo, CA, LangeTwins has discovered the unique terroirs and microclimates within Lodi that create an ideal environment for cultivating exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and other diverse varieties.
"I am continually amazed by the character and expression of our single vineyard wines, but especially from our Thirty Eight Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon,” said Marissa Lange, President of LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards. “With the soils, microclimates, and meticulous farming techniques, each vineyard tells its own story, especially Thirty Eight Vineyard. Located less than a mile from the winery, Thirty Eight Vineyard was one of the first Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards planted by the twins in 1982. As one of LangeTwins’ oldest vineyards, the yields are low, producing intense fruit flavors. It's a privilege to craft wines that showcase the exceptional quality and diversity that our vineyard sites have to offer."
LangeTwins' portfolio of wines highlights the unique characteristics of each vineyard, reflecting the distinct nuances of the regions where the grapes are grown. From the rich soils of the Lodi Appellation to the rolling hills of the Sierra Foothills, LangeTwins consistently delivers wines of extraordinary quality, depth, and complexity.
In September, LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards will be participating in this year’s SommCon Conference in San Diego, California, where LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards President, Marissa Lange, will take part in a seminar discussing “The Origins and Regionality of California Cabernet Sauvignon.” Additionally, the winery will be hosting an educational experience at the winery scheduled for the late summer months, which will explore their deep roots when it comes to Cabernet Sauvignon. Guests will taste through a selection of LangeTwins’ Cabernet Sauvignon, including some of their library vintages, two current releases, and even a barrel sample.
