Sergio Cuadra, winemaker at Fall Creek Vineyards for over a decade, and an investor group backing him, are the new owners of Fall Creek Vineyards. The oldest winery in the Hill Country, and second oldest in Texas, was sold by owner Susan Auler on Saturday April 4th, 2025 at the 50th Anniversary Party of the winery.

Susan and her husband Ed founded Fall Creek Vineyards 50 years ago. Ed passed away in 2023. Since then, Susan has run Fall Creek with her son, Chad. However, Chad has a successful liquor brand company he founded to run as well, and Susan wanted to retire. So, the two decided to sell the winery.
Passing it to Sergio creates continuity. He will continue to direct winemaking, the existing staff will be retained and, Sergio assured me face-to-face, the commitment to Texas grapes will continue. He has some ideas for innovations and those will be released “when appropriate”, he told me.
The smooth transition is good news for Texas wine lovers as Fall Creek Vineyards is one of the flagship wineries in the state. As well as winning medals with their wines they have also received some of the highest scores from national wine critic James Suckling.
Susan Auler may have passed the mantle but, she assured me, she will still be around.
