Over 100 Dallas fans of Italian gastronomy shared a night to remember at Eataly Dallas on Tuesday night.
Thirteen Italian wines, not available on the shelves at Eataly, but available by special order, were served in seven rounds accompanied by a four-course meal prepared by the chefs at Eataly. I attended as a media guest. Not only were the wines from Italy, but Italian wine experts from the wineries or their US representatives served the wines and provided commentary.
The pictures below give a flavor for the evening but the overall message is -- great food, great and unusual wine meant an event enjoyed by all.
Eataly has a busy agenda of food and wine events. Stay informed by signing up for their emails on the web site.
The Wagyu beef striploin for the Secondo came from Snake River Farms. I have had Wagyu from several sources over the last three months (it seems to be the "end of lockdown" meat of choice). This was by far the best. Incredibly tender and succulent. And what a creative step by the chefs to use the carrot tops in the gremolata! Waste, what waste?
The Tiramisu was the lightest tiramisu I have had. It may still have contained a calorie, but it was so elegantly packaged.
