WINE REVIEW: 2012 Tapiz ‘Las Notas de Jean Claude’, Mendoza, Argentina ($98)

andychalk

by Andrew Chalk

Appearance: Ruby with opaque core and translucent rim;

Nose: Cedar, raspberries, thyme, cassis;

Palate: Velvety tannins, effusive fruit (raspberry, blackberry). French oak. Medium acidity.

The predominantly merlot red wine blend is quite possibly the best red wine from Argentina that I have ever tasted. The complex tapestry of flavors harmonize in the palate and persist in an engaging finish.

Availability is very limited. Speak to your wine merchant or search online.
