WINE REVIEW: 2014 1849 Wine Company, ‘Declaration’ Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa ($79)

by Andrew Chalk

Appearance: Opaque, ruby

Nose: Blackberries, black cherry, rose petals;

Palate: Structured by chewy tannins. Intense flavors of dark fruit. Medium finish.

1849 is a négociant, reselling wines made by others. The ‘Declaration’ is a full-bodied, powerful red wine that is best served with food. Likely steak, prime rib, or game.
