WINE REVIEW: Vale do Bomfim 2017 Red Wine, Douro DOC, Portugal ($13)

The table wine line from legendary Port producer, Dow. It is a blend of the same grape varieties (touriga franca 50%, touriga nacionale 20%, with the remainder a field blend).


This wine is best with red meat such as barbecue brisket or steak.


TASTING NOTES

Appearance: Opaque, iridescent purple;


Nose: Powerful dark fruit of blackberries and black cherries. Hints of black pepper;


Taste: Chewy tannins and abundant fruit. Warm blackcurrant notes in the finish.


In wide distribution.
